It was an honour to be asked to present at PechaKucha this year. I've been a long time attendee to this event so this was extra special to me.
The story I shared was about my journey in pivoting the business and my production methods to better suit my new life as a mother. The juggle is real and the expectations we put upon ourselves can often lead to a lot of hardship, as it did to me.
Thank you PechaKucha Vancouver for the opportunity and for the amazing audience who laughed, cried and related. An extra special thanks to Ronnie and my closest friends, who help me look at life a little brighter.
So what is PechaKucha?
Drawing its name from the Japanese term for the sound of “chit chat”, it rests on a presentation format that is based on a simple idea: each presenter shows 20 images for 20 seconds each - a 6 minute and 40 second dose of ideas before the next presenter is up. It’s a format that makes presentations concise, and keeps things moving at a rapid pace.
PechaKucha Night was devised in Tokyo in February 2003 as an event for young designers to meet, network, and show their work in public. It has grown into a global event held in 1300 cities around the world, inspiring creatives worldwide.
PechaKucha Night is for content and not profit. Visit PechaKucha HQ to learn more about this global network. Or check out PechaKucha Vancouver here
